Do-Re-Mi Music for Children classes include singing, rhymes, movement, dance, listening, rhythm activities, musical games, percussion instruments, and ultimately reading, writing, creating and performing. High quality and colourful resources are used.

In the school age program rhythm syllables and symbols are taught in conjunction with Curwen hand signs and sol-fa syllables. These strategies support the creative development of both the ear and the eye. Music elements are presented sequentially through singing games, fun and play. Quality equipment is used in a vibrant, interactive learning environment and many important skills can be developed including musical, aural, memory, concentration, organisational, coordination, thought processing and socialisation.

Children develop confidence, self-esteem and a sense of well-being through an engaging program with lots of fun. Do-Re Mi classes can cater for 0 to 8 year olds and the benefits of the Kodály concept continue with Piano and Musicianship. Music classes develop skills which can build the foundations for all future learning.

The age groups listed below are an approximate guide and there is a reasonable amount of flexibility. Siblings below 12 months of age may accompany free of charge, and mixed age family groupings can be organised below Level 2 (Babies to Pre-school Level 1).

PIANO LESSONS are conducted on an individual basis and are available to children from six years of age. It is preferable for children to have completed their Kindergarten year at school at least before commencing piano lessons for developmental reasons.

MUSICIANSHIP/THEORY OF MUSIC is taught in conjunction with private piano lessons and may also be studied as a separate subject area.

*The following information and subpages are a guideline for the learning activities in the broader age groupings.
